Retail POS systems built around your inventory

Grocery lanes, convenience counters, fuel sites, liquor shelves and boutiques each run on different inventory, pricing and checkout rules. We match the system to your store, then install it and support it locally.

Built around how you operate

Each type runs differently, so each page starts from your operation, not a product.

  • A cashier sliding eggs across a flatbed scanner at a grocery checkout lane
    Grocery Stores

Item files, scales and SNAP/EBT — set up so every lane rings the right price.

  • A customer tapping a phone on the card reader at a convenience counter
    Convenience Stores

A fast counter, age checks staff can’t skip and cash that balances.

  • A fuel-station shop with a coffee station and hot food case
    Gas Stations & Fuel

Pumps, store register and brand rules. Pump options depend on your site — we review those first.

  • A hand scanning a case barcode in a liquor store stockroom
    Liquor Stores

Case and single pricing, ID checks and fast scanning.

  • A customer at a boutique counter while the owner rings up on a tablet POS

The short answer

Last reviewed · How we check

A retail POS scans and prices items, tracks inventory, handles returns and promotions, and reports on what sells. Store type changes the requirements: grocery needs scales and SNAP/EBT, convenience stores need a price book and age checks, liquor stores need case pricing, and boutiques need size-and-color inventory. Start with your store type.

Questions owners ask

Retail POS questions

How much does a POS system cost?

It depends on the platform, how many stations and handhelds you need, the software plan, add-ons like online ordering or kitchen screens, card processing, installation and support. We put those pieces side by side for your setup before you choose, rather than quoting one number without knowing how you run.

Does a POS work without internet?

Many do, with an offline mode that keeps taking orders and stores card payments to send later, within limits. How it works varies by platform and processor, so we check it for yours.

Can a retail POS handle age-restricted items and case pricing?

Many can prompt for an ID check on restricted items and price cases, singles and mixed packs. How well they do it varies, so we check it on every platform we shortlist for you.

Can I keep my current payment processor?

Sometimes. Some platforms work with several processors; others include their own processing. We check what each platform on your shortlist allows before you decide.

What happens to my menu, products and customer data if I switch?

Menus and product lists can often be exported and imported; history, reports and customer lists depend on what each system allows. We plan what carries over before anything changes.

Can GCMS install it and train our staff?

Yes, where installation applies. Local installation and support throughout Northwest Florida, with onsite installation available nationwide depending on the project. We program your menu or products, train your team and explain the support path for the platform you choose.

Not sure which fits?

Answer a few questions about how you operate and we will shortlist the platforms that fit. We set up and train on the one you choose, and explain its support path before you decide.
